2008 SUMMER PROGRAM - JULY 6 to AUGUST 3

  • Master classes and individual lessons in violin, viola, cello and piano.
  • String orchestra rehearsals and performances
  • Chamber music coaching and master classes.
  • Master classes and workshops in composition.
  • Student and faculty concerts.
  • Guest lectures and concerts .
  • Courses in fugue, improvisation and keyboard harmony .
  • Lectures in French language and culture .

The American Conservatory Summer Session 2008 will be held for four weeks, from July 6 to August 3. The program is for advanced students of all ages, but particularly those currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate music school programs.

Program includes performing opportunities (recitals/concerts) and an optional three-day trip with the Fine Arts Department (not included in tuition fee). There will be  organized cultural visits to Paris during the session including some combined with the architecture students.  A special collaboration with the Fine Arts students, performed at the end of the summer session, celebrates the unique combination of the two schools.

The Distinguished  faculty* includes Philippe Entremont (orchestra, chamber music), Philippe Bianconi (piano), Frédéric Aguessy (piano), Jay Gottlieb (piano), Noël Lee (piano), Roger Muraro (piano), Gerard Poulet (violin), Beverley Julie Lunt (violin), Alexis Galperine (violin), Richard Wolfe ( viola), Herre-Jan Stegenga (cello), Diana Ligeti (cello), Allain Gaussin (composition and analysis), Betsy Jolas (Composition), François Paris (composition), Isabelle Duha (fugue and keyboard harmony).

Enrollment is limited to 40.

Students must 18 or older.  Students 16-18 may attend if accompanied by an adult.

Courses are taught in English.

Tuition for the 2008 session is set at $3,300. Financial aid is available for qualified students.

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

You will be lodged within walking distance from the Chateau, either in a dorm or with a French family.

Meals 5 days a week are included in your tuition (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
